North American Carbides CBN Insert Grade Description
CBN Grade Descriptions:
-
NS495
is a carbide backed high content PcBN material with a proprietary alloy binder and large grain structure. Well suited for heavy interrupted cutting in hardened steels, turning of cast iron (interrupted and non), abrasive ferrous materials, and super alloys with high nickel or cobalt.
-
NS502
is a high content PcBN material with superior impact strength and high abrasion resistance. best suited for interrupted cutting of gray cast iron, sintered alloys and tool and die steels.
-
NS509SX
is a high content CBN with Ceramic binder formulated to work well in heavy interrupted turning and/or milling of abrasive powder metals and cast irons.
-
NS580
is a carbide backed high content PcBn material with a multi-element ceramic binder and small grain structure. Suited best for heavy interrupted hardened steel cutting, cast iron machining, CGI materials, white irons, and ferrous powdered metals.
-
NS597
Is a carbide backed medium content PcBn material with ceramic binder and submicron grain structure. It is best suited for applications with mild interruption in hardened steel, nodular irons, and CGI materials.
-
NS701
is a carbide backed low content PcBN material with a ceramic TiCN binder and submicron grain structure. Suitable for continuous cutting in hardened steels, super alloys, and ferrous powdered metal applications meeting H01-H15 criteria. Great resistance to chemical wear for long lasting performance and part-to-part consistency.
-
NSH36
is a solid low content PcBN, superior edge strength makes it suitable for interrupted cutting of valve seat materials and various hardened steels.
-
NSH37
is a solid low content PcBN with exceptional crater and flank wear resistance, best suited for continuous turning of hardened steel.
-
NSH41
falls in between high content and low content PcBN, high abrasion resistance with heat and chemical wear characteristics. best suited for turning of high chrome and Ni-iron alloys.
